Mitch McCullough

Mitch McCullough is the editor of New Car Test Drive and an editor for the Internet Brands Automotive Group. Born in 1958, he hails from Charlottesville, Virginia. After serving as an avionics technician in the U.S. Air Force, Mitch graduated from Washington State University with a degree in journalism. He began his career as a newspaper reporter, earning a Virginia state press association award for excellence in business reporting. He quit newspapering to work for the Jim Russell racing school at Riverside raceway, where he raced Formula Russells, published the school newsletter and managed public relations for the Russell Pro Series. He was recruited by a PR agency to work for Nissan and Yokohama Tire, then went on to manage public relations for Mitsubishi Motors and Mazda. During this time, he won two divisional pro rally championships in his Mazda 323 GTX and was named rookie of the year. He also raced Showroom Stock Mazda Miatas. Returning to journalism, Mitch served as the truck editor for Field & Stream magazine and as a motorsports correspondent for AutoWeek. He has been editor of New Car Test Drive since 1996. He has served as president of the Motor Press Guild and as president of the Washington Automotive Press Association and is a juror for the North American Car of the Year award. Today, he races and rallies vintage cars as much as possible.
